Non-surgical gum therapy is a professional treatment for gum disease that doesn’t require surgery. The most common procedure is scaling and root planing: scaling carefully removes plaque and hardened tartar from above and below the gumline, and root planing smooths the tooth-root surfaces so your gums can reattach and heal.
