At Smile Avenue Dentistry, we’ve helped hundreds of patients across North York improve the look of their teeth with custom-crafted dental veneers. Dr. Firouzeh Zolfagharirad, a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, brings over 25 years of cosmetic experience to every case. We design each veneer to match your natural teeth. Some patients come in to fix a single chipped tooth, others to reshape their full smile.

“Sophia always disliked the slight crowding in her front teeth. After veneer treatment for alignment, she says her smile looks perfectly straight, and she feels more confident in every interaction.”

Choose the perfect veneer solution for your needs
Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted ceramic shells that improve the look of your teeth. Their translucent finish reflects light like natural enamel, so the result looks real. They resist stains well and keep their appearance over many years.
Temporary veneers protect the prepared teeth and keep their appearance while the lab makes your permanent set. You can eat and speak normally during this stage.
Palatal veneers restore the inner surfaces of teeth worn down by erosion or acid. They rebuild lost structure and improve how the teeth function.
Removable veneers are non permanent cosmetic appliances that fit over natural teeth to instantly improve the appearance of your smile without altering tooth structure.
The cost of dental veneers depends on the material chosen, the number of teeth involved, and your overall oral health. To give you a starting point:
Porcelain veneers last longer and offer a more natural appearance, while composite veneers are a more affordable option with faster results. Our team will help you find the right fit for your goals and budget during a free in-office consultation.
Most insurance plans treat veneers as a cosmetic procedure, so they are often not covered. When part of your treatment is restorative, we submit the claim directly to your provider so you only pay the remaining balance. For the cosmetic portion, we accept credit card payments and offer payment plans that spread the cost over several months. Ask our front desk about financing options when you book your consultation, and we will go over the numbers with you before any treatment starts.
Preparing a tooth for a veneer is a precise step that affects how the final result looks and fits. The amount of preparation depends on the type of veneer you choose. Porcelain veneers usually need a thin layer of enamel removed from the front of the tooth, often around 0.5 millimetres, which creates room for the veneer to sit flush against the tooth without looking bulky. Lumineers and some composite veneers need little or no enamel removal, so they are a more conservative option. Dr. Zolfagharirad reviews your enamel thickness and bite before deciding how much preparation is right for your case.
| Treatment | Enamel Removal | Typical Lifespan | Approx. Cost (Per Tooth) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Porcelain Veneers | Thin layer (about 0.5 mm) | 10–15 years | $800–$1,200 | Stains, chips, gaps, and minor shape changes on visible teeth |
| Composite Veneers | Little to none | 5–7 years | $300–$600 | Smaller fixes and patients who want a lower-cost option |
| Dental Bonding | None | 5–10 years | $300–$600 | Single chips, small gaps, and quick repairs |
| Dental Crowns | Significant (covers the whole tooth) | 10–15 years | $1,500–$1,900 | Teeth that are cracked, heavily worn, or weakened by decay |
| Teeth Whitening | None | 6 months–2 years | $250–$450 | Discolouration only, on teeth with no chips or shape issues |

Veneers work best when the teeth underneath are sound and the gums are free of disease. They suit patients who want to correct stains, chips, gaps, or uneven tooth shape. A few conditions need treatment first: active gum disease, gum inflammation, untreated decay, and untreated grinding (bruxism) can shorten the life of a veneer or rule it out until resolved. Our dentist checks your enamel, gums, and bite at the exam and tells you honestly whether veneers are right for you.
Dental veneers offer a minimally invasive way to improve the appearance of your teeth. They cover imperfections like chips, stains, or gaps and provide a natural, long-lasting solution compared to other treatments like bonding or crowns.
Dental veneers are a long-lasting solution, but not permanent. They typically last 10–15 years with proper care. Since enamel is removed during placement, veneers will need replacement over time to maintain your smile’s aesthetics and functionality.
Getting veneers is typically not painful. Local anesthesia is used during enamel removal to keep you comfortable. Some patients notice mild tooth sensitivity to hot or cold foods for a few days afterward. This is temporary and usually fades on its own. A sensitivity toothpaste helps during this period, and our dentist can advise you if it lasts longer than expected.
If you grind or clench your teeth at night, a custom nightguard protects both your veneers and your natural teeth from the pressure. Grinding is one of the main causes of cracked or worn veneers. Our dentist can check for signs of grinding and make a nightguard that fits your bite.
Avoid biting directly into hard items like ice, hard candy, and bones, since these can chip the veneer. Do not use your teeth to open packaging or bite your nails. Coffee, red wine, and tea can stain the natural teeth around porcelain veneers over time, so rinse with water after them. Good daily oral hygiene keeps the veneer edges clean and helps them last.
